Pray It Forward

If you are expecting a biological child, preparing to adopt, or getting your home ready for a foster placement, you will get a lot of advice.

Some of it will be helpful and almost all of it will be well meaning.

  • You’ll get parenting tricks and tips.

  • You’ll hear about products that will save time or money.

  • You’ll be told about the never-fail way that people got their kids to sleep, to clean their room, to use their manners or to talk rather than throw things.

You probably will not be told that you’re going to need to learn how to pray - and pray like you never have before. All the tips and tricks, all the time saving products, all the hacks for getting things done with children - all of them fail us in time, and having done the stuff well, we will still find ourselves at the end of ourselves.

And then we pray.

Prayer is our way of throwing up our hands without giving up. Prayer is our connection with the perfect father when we’re an imperfect parent. Prayer changes what nothing else can.

Every Child Home was founded in a movement of prayer, by people who believed that the best methods and insight will get the most traction when surrounded by fervent prayer.

Don’t fall back on methods without keeping the whole situation before the Lord on a daily basis. It’s the only way forward.
